Sports Grant (PPSG)

Primary PE Sports Grant

The Government has provided £150 million per year since 2013 to improve provision of physical education (PE) for sport in Primary Schools. This funding is allocated to Primary Schools for Headteachers to decide how to spend. The funding is ring fenced and therefore can only be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools. The purpose of funding schools directly is that they must spend the additional funding on improving their provision in PE and sport, but they have the freedom to choose how they do this. Each school will have their own priorities for funding and these may change each year.

Objectives for spending PPSG at All Saints 2018-19:

To continue to improve the quality of Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESSPA) at All Saints CE Primary School by:

  • supporting staff in delivering PE through enhanced training and support through specialist coaches and providers, including our local Sports Centre;
  • continuing to broaden the sporting opportunities and experiences available to all pupils, including swimming, judo, climbing and sailing;
  • continuing to develop a love of sport and physical activity outside of school, through extra-curricular clubs and opportunities;
  • maintaining a sense of pride in wearing our school PE shirt;
  • involving children in school, cluster and authority-wide competitions;
  • maintaining our Gold School Games Award.
